THINGS PEOPLE ASK US…A LOT.
Are your treats made in China?
We NEVER, EVER make our treats in China. We use only the best in natural ingredients. The free range, cage free and wild caught protein in our single ingredient nothin’ but bites and all come from right here in the USA. Free ranger bully stix come from happy grass fed cattle in Brazil, “Hey São Paulo!”, and the ridiculously tasty free range venison jerky is from New Zealand. All our biscuits are oven-baked in small batches and are made right here in the USA with GMO free ingredients.
How many cups of food are in a bag of IN THE RAW dehydrated homemade food?
|BAG SIZE||DRY CUPS PER BAG||WET CUPS PER BAG|
|1.5 lbs||7 1/3 cups||16 1/3 cups|
|5.5 lbs||27 cups||60 cups|
Where are your products made?
We love America and we make sure all of our products are proudly made in America as well. Our Free Ranger Bully Stix are made from grass fed cattle from Brazil, and several flea + tick products are made in France but are all packaged in the USA.
Do your products contain corn, wheat, or soy?
No, none of our products contain these potential allergens. We prioritize only premium ingredients, often making our formulas with only high quality grains or completely grain free.
Are your supplements human grade?
Yes, all of our supplements are created in human grade facilities.
Are your foods really raw?
Our “I and love and you” Power Pucks and the meats in our In The Raw diets are created using a process called freeze drying, which uses no heat, leaving the ingredients unharmed and raw. Our fruits and veggies in our In The Raw diets are gently dehydrated at around 112 degrees preserving nutrients, naturally occurring vitamins and minerals and enzymes. Dehydration is so gentle that the ingredients retain the highest nutritional value and provide a fresh, wholesome meal without compromising quality or nutrition.
Are raw foods safe for my pet?
Your pet’s digestive system is designed to process raw food. Unlike our long intestinal tract and complicated digestive system, designed to break down complex carbs, grains, etc. dog and cat digestive tracts are very short in relation to their body and very acidic. This is a great environment to protect the pet against any pathogens that could be present and due to the short nature of the intestines, requires foods that are easily digestible, bio-available and minimally processed. Raw foods can pose the same risks as kibble foods, and as you may have seen from many recent kibble recalls, it is best to use safe food handling practices regardless of what food type you choose. Wash your hands after handling food and routinely clean food bowls. Pick up food bowls after your pet is done eating to prevent small children from handling pet food.
What is the shelf life of “I and love and you” products?
Our natural “I and love and you” products contain no artificial preservatives so they will not be able to compete with the Twinkie on shelf life. Refer to the “Best By” date on each packaging for the shelf life for each product.
How many calories are in your food?
We know even our pets sometimes need to watch what they eat and count a few calories. You can find the calorie count of each of our foods on the back label of the bag under the Guaranteed Analysis.
Are your products GMO Free?
We avoid GMO ingredients whenever available. Our In The Raw diets and all of our Biscuits contain absolutely no GMO ingredients.
Are your meats Free Range/Cage Free/Wild Caught?
We use the highest quality sources of meats for our products whenever possible. Our Chicken and Beef in our Power Pucks are cage free and free range, along with our meats in our Nothin’ But All Meat Treats and Nice Jerky Treats. We use only Wild Caught Alaskan Salmon in our Mmmm Salmon Sauce Fish Oil. Our Free Ranger Stix all come from free range, grass fed cattle raised without hormones or antibiotics.
Your In The Raw diets look too soft for my dog. I was told my pet needs hard crunchy kibble to keep his teeth clean.
The myth that your pet needs hard crunchy kibble to keep their teeth clean is nothing more than a myth. Just as your kids (despite their best arguments) can’t eat crunchy cookies and hard candies to “scrape” their teeth clean same thing with your dog or cat. It matters what is in the food, not how it is shaped or it’s consistency. A sugary, carb and starch filled food packed with tons of low end grains is going to lead to build up on your pet’s teeth rather than removing it. Soft and moist or hard and crunchy, the important thing is the ingredients being healthy and nutritious for a healthy mouth and pet.
It says I have to add water to my In The Raw diet. Is there a way to make it even easier?
Yes! You can make up to four days worth of food at a time and store in your refrigerator (with all the other good food!) Simply take your dog’s daily portion of dry In The Raw mix and water and multiple by the desired number of days, mix in a big container and let sit in your fridge. Simply portion out the correct amount everyday to give you some extra time.
My pet likes his In The Raw food to be extra soupy. Is it ok to add more/less water?
Yes. You can adjust the water amount to the desired consistency for your pet. Some pets like it extra soupy, like a stew, others like it thick and chunky like Thanksgiving Day stuffing, and sometimes your pet just likes to keep you guessing, so mix it up and see which way they prefer.
Are there any chemicals in your Free Ranger Stix to make them low odor or Odor Free?
All of our Free Ranger Stix are all natural. They are made of only natural beef tendon that has been dried. Unlike rawhide chews, they contain no bleach, lye or other harsh chemicals. The No Stink! Free Ranger Stix have been dried an extra long time compare to regular Free Ranger Stix to reduce moisture content and make them virtually odor free.
I’ve known of dogs having choking problems or blockages from Rawhide Chews or other dental chews. Are Free Ranger Stix safe?
Long lasting Free Ranger Stix are made of tendons, which break down much easier in the stomach than rawhide. They are 100% digestible. As with all chews we always recommend you supervise your pet when giving them Free Ranger Stix or any chew or treat to be safe.
I want to switch to a new “I and love and you” food but I’m told you shouldn’t switch pets food. What is the proper way to transition?
Which switching to a new food it is always best to transition slowly. Your pet is used to processing a certain type of food, and when a new one is introduced, especially a fresh, raw or less processed diet, it can be a bit of a shock to their system. Determine your pet’s normal daily portions and start with 90% of your pet’s current food and just 10% of the new food for the first few days. Gradually up the ratio to 80% old food and 20% “Iandloveandyou” foods, slowly increasing the new food and decreasing the old food. If you notice loose stools make the transition even slower. “Iandloveandyou” My Tummy Hurts digestive aid is also a great tool to assist in transitioning your pet’s diet.
Is your Mmmm Salmon Sauce Fish Oil free of contaminants and heavy metals?
Alaska is the source of some of the purest wild Salmon available. Our fish oil is routinely tested to ensure it is toxic free. Our bottles are food grade black oxygen barrier high density polyethylene (HDPE), free of toxic chemicals and are recyclable. The cap is a flip-top with one-way valve that eliminates drips or spills and makes dispensing extremely easy, accurate and mess-free. Each bottle is filled as close as possible to the top to eliminate any air space and then flushed with Nitrogen, an inert gas that is essential to maintaining an oxygen free environment. Test data confirms no change in quality over a two year span of unopened, un-refrigerated, packaged oil.
Are your cans BPA Free?
Our 3oz aluminum Cat cans are BPA free. While there are large cans of certain foods available in the human food industry that are BPA free currently there is not a viable alternative to epoxy coatings that meets the existing requirements of canned dog food. Currently our 13oz steel dog cans contain minimal amounts of BPA at levels below the FDA guidelines.
Are your flea products safe for dogs and cats? What about puppies or kittens?
Our comprehensive flea line is all natural and safe for not only dogs and cats, kittens and puppies, but also your entire family. There are no toxic chemicals or pesticides in any of our products making them completely safe and natural for all pets and life stages.
Do you have a puppy/kitten food or a senior food?
Just as there are no grocery stores only for teenagers or senior citizens, there are no “Iandloveandyou” foods that are life stage specific. A growing puppy or kitten will need more calories and fats and a senior, less active pet, will require less calories to match their lifestyle. Please see the feeding guidelines on the back of your bag to adjust your pet’s daily portions appropriately for their age.
How does the “I and love and you” Flea Tag work?
Our flea tag sends out frequencies using your pet’s energy that are unnoticeable to us. These frequencies are really annoying to small insects such as fleas, mosquitoes and ticks and will repel them. It is completely safe and uses no chemicals, batteries, electromagnetic, radio or microwaves.
In The Raw Diets come in such small bags for a not small price. Why?
In The Raw diets are all dehydrated, so you can think of it as if you are buying your food in bulk. The small 1.5 LB bags of food, once prepared by simply adding water, create 10 LBS of fresh food, comparable to a medium size bag of kibble. Our 5 LB bag of In The Raw food makes 36 LBS of fresh food, comparable to a large bag of natural kibble. As a result, In The Raw is a great value, and you don’t have to carry that heavy bag of food home from the store either!
My Dog is used to free feeding and just eats kibble out of his bowl whenever he wants. How do I do that now with a fresh food like In The Raw?
We advise pet parents to avoid free feeding. This practice can typically lead to obesity in pets and if not, allows the food to become stale when sitting out all day, allowing air and light to break down the added vitamins and minerals sprayed onto kibbles. The result is a stale food with little nutrition once it is broken down. The good news is, because In The Raw is fresh and includes whole pieces of meat and real vegetables and fruit most dogs will just gobble it right up! If your pet does not finish his whole meal with in a few minutes, pick it up and store it in the refrigerator for later, like you would do with fresh leftovers for yourself. Eventually you will train you pet to eat at set meal times, which also allows their body and digestive system to rest through out the day, instead of working non stop like it does when pet’s free feed.
Are your foods complete and balanced?
Yes! All “Iandloveandyou” diets are complete and balanced for all life stages.
How many bully sticks can my dog have a day?
“Even though Free Ranger Stix and Ear Candy Chews are low in fat, free of carbs and additives and high in protein, giving too many treats to your pet can lead to obesity. Please limit the number of treats your pet gets each day and factor treats into your pet’s diet. If your pet is receiving a lot of high quality treats reduce his dinner and breakfast portions of his food slightly to accommodate. ”
My pet eats a really good, high end kibble, why would they need My Tummy Hurts Digestive Enzymes added to their food?
” Most naturally occurring digestive enzymes are destroyed in high heat of processing of the ingredients in dry kibble and canned foods, making even this best kibble or canned food sometimes hard to digest. Adding My Tummy Hurts Digestive Enzymes will make sure your pet is absorbing the most out of their healthy diet and maximizing the benefits of the healthy ingredients.”
How could giving my dog My Tummy Hurts Digestive Enzymes help my pet stop eating poop?
” Pets will sometimes eat feces because their body is craving nutrients they’re lacking or their food isn’t being digested completely making the feces still look like “”food”” to them. My Tummy Hurts will help properly and completely digest food and assimilate nutrients so their body is absorbing what it needs to stay happy and healthy.”
What is diatomaceous earth in the Flea Powder?
“Diatomaceous earth (dye-atom-ay’-shus) is a mineral substance formed by the fossil remains of prehistoric algae, this powder is fine and smooth to the touch. While non-toxic to people and pets, at the microscopic level, it is razor-sharp and is lethal to insect pests like fleas and ticks, whose shells are cut as the powder covers their bodies. Fleas, along with their eggs and larvae, become dehydrated and die within hours when exposed to this powerful substance.”
If my pet grooms/licks itself after being treated with All-In-One Flea Powder will it be sick?
“No. Unlike toxic pesticide treatments the herbs and diatomaceous are safe to ingest and will cause no harm or ill-effects to your pet. Diatomaceous earth has been used by people to treat internal parasites. The Diatomaceous earth used in Flea Powder is human grade and safe for consumption.”
What if I inhale or get the All-In-One Flea Powder in my eyes?
“Diatomaceous earth is a drying agent, and may cause moderate eye irritation, so avoid contact with the eyes. Flush liberally with water if contact with the eyes occurs. Avoid inhaling the dust during application as overexposure may cause respiratory discomfort or irritation.”
Are the essential oils in Spray safe to use on cats?
“Yes. The organic oil blend used for our Herbal Defense spray is comprised of Lemongrass, Citronella, Patchouli, Clove, Neem Oil, Pennyroyal, Catnip; and Soybean Oil. Together these oils ward off a variety of pests and are diluted to be safe for use with sensitive systems in cats, kittens and puppies. Apply to a cotton ball and treat at minimum ears, neck, back, and base of tail. ”
Many Flea and tick treatments only attack adult fleas. Will Flea Powder also get rid of eggs and larvae?
“Yes! All-In-One Flea Powder works mechanically to dehydrate the fleas on a microscopic level. It will not harm pets or humans but will dehydrate eggs, larvae and adult fleas indiscriminately. All-In-One Flea Powder is also effective against ticks, cockroaches, ants, bedbugs, carpet beetles, centipedes, crickets, earwigs, grasshoppers, millipedes, slugs, and silverfish.”
My pet is currently on non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), but i hear the side effects are unfavorable for my pet, is this a natural alternative?
NSAID’s are drugs that are very good at blocking pain and decreasing inflammation. They do not, however, add to the body’s joint lubricants or biochemical process. Because of the often unacceptable side effects of NSAIDs, there has been a market shift toward natural alternatives so ask your veterinarian if a switch to a natural approach would work for your pet. Many pets see long lasting improvement in their joint health and overall wellness with natural joint supplements rather than drugs that just mask the symptoms.”
My pet does not take pills easily, how do I get them to take it?
“Many of our supplements have a tasty flavor, but if your pet does not approve you can either use a pill-crusher to convert the tablet to powder to mix in with food or hid the tablet in a soft treat. We like all natural peanut butter to mask the flavor. Also, asking your dog to perform a trick before receiving the supplement will help take his mind off things as well. ”
What is homeopathy and how does it work?
“Homeopathy is a natural, holistic system for healing that works by eliminating the underlying imbalance in a pet’s body that is causing unwanted symptoms. Homeopathy uses the principle of the “minimum dose.” Homeopathic remedies are made from natural substances such as plants and minerals that are highly diluted and shaken, which eliminates any toxic effects of the natural substance. It is literally impossible to overdose with a homeopathic formula, and they are generally safe for use with other remedies or medicines.”
What are Essential Fatty Acids?
“EFA’s like Omega 3 cannot be produced by animals and must be obtained through their diet and are most commonly found in fish oils. They are crucial for skin health, joint health, immune support, digestive health, circulatory and cardiovascular health and many other benefits. Since oils in dry kibble can lead to rancidity many pets can be deficient in Omega 3’s and can benefit from added oils in their diets. ”
